PUDDING FESTIVAL - Dec 2009

Puds glorious puds.

Hard ones, soft ones, gooey ones, fruity ones, fluffy ones, rock 'ard ones, boozy ones, crumbly ones, squishy ones, with cream or custard, sauce or syrup. A magnificent array of puds this year, and an all-ladies line-up for the winners after last year's last minute triumph by local baker John Walker.

Congratulations to Category Winner and Overall Champion JANE TAMS,  and also to category winners Annie, Pauline, Tina and Gemma.

BULLS HEAD BIKERS - Sept 2009 - "Shropshire & Wales"

Making the most of these rare sunny days with a run to Whitchurch, Shropshire for a late-late breakfast followed by a run on to Llangollen, then home.

This date happened to coincide with the Motorcycle News "Reclaim Wales" demonstration run attended by 1000's of bikers from all over the country so there were plenty of bikes to goggle at wherever we went.

Thanks to Bill and Ray for route-planning.

Neil & Andy at Whitchurch with a load of bikers on the "Reclaim Wales" ride-out in the background

Bill, Ray & Ray prepare to navigate the aquaduct at Llangollen (on foot, not by bike!)

A narrowboat crossing the aquaduct.  And there really are no railings on the boat side, just a sheer drop.  Gulp!

ANGLING - Sept 2009 - Blakes Cheadle Match

Blazing sunshine (for a change) for the September match at Blakes Fisheries, kindly organised by Paddy.  A slow start for some but plenty of activity for most, with enough carp showing to keep everyone's interest up even if most escaped before getting a whiff of a landing net...   ..
..

Congratulations to Rambo, first place, 7lb 14oz,  Eileen only 2oz behind with a bag of bream and Rog in 3rd place with 4lb14.

Special thanks from Eileen to World Class Angling Coach "Dave-the- Accountant" for the top tips and racing-formula-groundbait  :-)

... and a very scenic "off road" section up through the Weaver Hills to Wootton featuring 40 cattle grids (or did it just FEEL like 40 cattle grids) .....then home.  About 93 miles of stunning countryside .. we're getting the hang of it now!!
